♡♡The Kind Life

So, I've been an on again, off again vegan for the past few months. I've been vegetarian for well over a year now. But I just couldn't seem to stick to veganism. Not because I can't give up dairy products or eggs, because I have given those up. It's because I was completely lost in what vegans eat. What to eat, how to make my meals. I had no clue whatsoever. I went to Google and looked up vegan books and recipes for some ideas. I came across this book.

I read an excerpt from the book online and decided that this was my answer. And boy, was I right. This book is like Skinny Bitch but better. I read Skinny Bitch and The Kind Diet runs circles around Skinny Bitch, no pun intended. This book has opened up my eyes to so much. You never really realise the effects the food we eat have on our bodies and the environment. It's written by Alicia Silverstone, whom I didn't even know was vegan. I have adored this woman since her Clueless days. And after reading this book, I've found even more reason to love her. You can relate to her so much in this book. She talks about her own struggles with even sticking to vegetarianism, which at some point all vegetarians and vegans have faced. She explains that it's not easy, and it is a journey but it is well worth it. You lessen your chances of getting these diet and lifestyle related diseases, like heart disease and different forms of cancer. That was what got me as well. Having battled my own disease for over a decade, and seeing people's testimonies about the diet basically curing their disease, I was hooked from then. I've always struggled with my weight as well. I've been overweight basically all my life and I felt like a change in lifestyle was going to be my cure. And since reading this book and finally gradually making the switch to veganism, I've lost over 20lbs, my trips to the hospital have lessened to none, my skin is improving, my nails are stronger and I feel like my carbon footprint is smaller. =)

I mean, besides the recipes being absolutely delicious (something I never expected), a lot of the recipes are super easy to make. Simple ingredients that are packed full of nutrients and vitamins. I advise everyone to check this book out. This book has saved my life in more ways than I can explain. I hope you all decide to live a kind life. =) ♡
